J-1 Support Staff

All participants have access to 24-hour emergency support via phone at 1-866-512-3638 (free).  CENET is also available by email at cenet@culturalexchangenetwork.org.

If you perceive you are or have been the victim of a violent crime or sexual abuse:
Contact the local autorities (phone: 911), and then immediately contact CENET on our free, 24-hour emergency phone line (1-866-512-3638).  If the occurrence took place at your host company or at your housing, you will be immediately removed from the situation until the investigation is completed.

If you are experiencing problems with your host company (e.g., insufficient working hours, too many working hours, your wage, your job offer or placement plan, personality conflicts):
First, speak with your supervisor.  If the situation does not improve within 3 working days, you should contact CENET either by email (
cenet@culturalexchangenetwork.org) or by phone (1-866-512-3638).

If you are experiencing problems with your housing:
First, speak with your landlord.  If the situation does not improve within 3 days, you should contact CENET either by email (
cenet@culturalexchangenetwork.org) or by phone (1-866-512-3638).

All CENET participants are issued an emergency card, which is included in the DS-2019 package.  You should keep this card with you at all times for easy reference in the event of a crisis.

CENET's team of experienced staff members is dedicated to ensuring a positive exchange experience for all of our participants.
